WHY WE NEED MEASURE US

EVERY CHILD deserves to learn in safe, updated, school facilities. Help make it true in our community. VOTE YES on Measure US.

Today’s graduates require new skills, knowledge, and experience to compete for jobs and careers in our increasingly technical, global economy. Yet 80% of our schools opened over 50 years ago and 20% are over 100 years old. Repairs and upgrades are desperately needed. Measure US will help.

VOTING YES authorizes: updates to classrooms, labs and school facilities for 21st century learning; and renovations and upgrades to aging schools. When students get access to future- ready learning environments it accelerates pathways to college and career success. Similarly, improving safety and addressing inequities between newer and older schools helps improve educational experiences for all.

Measure US will:

Measure US REQUIRES strict accountability: Independent Citizens’ Oversight, mandatory public reporting, annual financial audits, and NO funds for administrator salaries or District operating expenses.

VOTING YES is a wise investment. As school facilities are improved, thousands of jobs are created, including local union construction jobs, providing a needed economic boost that pumps hundreds of millions of dollars back into our LA economy.
